Welsh and British Champs at Pontypool

At the weekend a few racers from the ERSA region made the journey to Pontypool for the Welsh Champs on the Saturday and British on the Sunday.   Pontypool is a challenging long slope,  set in beautiful surroundings and enclosed by trees.   There were a number of crashes but our skiers held their nerve and skied their best.

At the Welsh on the Saturday Joseph Thompson (NOR) was fastest U12 Boy after skiing out on his first run.  Charlotte Tapsell (HEM) was first in the U14 category and 7th overall in the females.

Alex Ogden (NOR)  took second in the U10s, Tom Hudson (NOR) second in the U14 category and Nia Boty (HEM) finished third in the U12 Females.

The Sunday saw more challenging courses and unfortunately Charlotte lost a ski leaving the start gate so finished her run seven seconds off the pace in the U14s.  On the second run she set the fastest time in her category and reached the podium in third place.

Alex Ogden took the overall British Champion title in the U10s boys with Joseph and Tom taking second place in category and Nia another third.

Overall it was great fun.  Well done to all racers who made the long journey.
