Coaching Course Updates

Here is a brief email outlining some of the changes that have happened within Snowsport England (SSE) over the recent months.

WHO’S WHO

As you may be aware there has been  change within the Office.

Claire Pennell – Operations Manager Claire@snowsportengland.org.uk

Claire runs the Office and is responsible for organising Courses

Holly Kirk – Membership and Project Co-ordinator – holly@snowsportengland.org.uk

Holly looks after licencing and leads on the Coaching Conference

Ryan Grewcock – Coaching and Workforce Officer (Me) – ryan@snowsportengland.org.uk

I look after the coaching scheme and help develop it. As well as developing CPD for our coaches and volunteers. Workforce includes

Bridget Owen – Safeguarding Lead – dbs@snowsportengland.org.uk

Bridget looks after all DBS Checks and ensures we provide training and support on child protection and safeguarding.

ARRANGING A COURSE

From January 2016 all courses now must be arranged via this link https://form.jotformeu.com/53215583196358

 

Key Points

·         Forms need to be submitted at least 6 weeks prior to the start of the course

·         Courses can only be delivered by SSE appointed Tutors

·         All candidates must book on via the SSE Office

·         Courses not on the form will be organised centrally

 

CHANGES TO BOOKING ONTO A COURSE

1)      All bookings to be done via the Snowsport England Office

2)      UKSS Level 1 courses include  membership.

3)      UKCP Level 1 courses will SOON include membership to SSE.

 

LICENCING UPDATE

All UKSS Level 1 Courses (Ski and Snowboard) now include the candidates  membership to Snowsport England until the next renewal date (Oct).

UKCP Level 1 courses will SOON include membership to SSE.

 

All Safeguarding Training needs to be refreshed every 3 years – refreshers are available online. More info here http://www.snowsportengland.org.uk/ClubsAndSlopes/SafeguardingAndProtectionInSnowsportTraining.aspx

 

All coaches/ instructors to be Licenced should have the following

-          First Aid

-          Enhanced DBS Check with Barring checks ( Minimum required to work in the UK, not all Instructor bodies ask for this level)

-          Child Protection and Safeguarding Training

-          Be a member of Snowsport England 

 

If they have all the above then SSE will send them out a licence.
