Farmers Jam 2015

The 2015 Farmers Jam takes place at Norfolk Snowsport Centre from the 4th - 6th September, always a good event and plenty happening over the weekend, take a look at the main website http://farmersjam.org/

Hemel Club update

As you know HEM have had the policy for a number of years that if registered with one of the HNGBs you had to change your fist club to HEM if wishing to join us for training on the snow. HSRC had a bit of a monopoly, apart from the academies, of snow training at Hemel.  At a recent committee meeting the request was made that we relax this rule and allow “other” club members to attend if they so wish.

This was duly passed so from the 14th September 2015 HSRC will accept trainees who are registered but do not wish to amend their first club.

Welwyn race update

There has been a new report prepared for the insurance company at Gosling centre. This is being presented to the them and it is still expected that we will be able to run the ERSA Champs at Welwyn in September.

If there is any update we will let people know as quickly as possible.

2015 Trophy Return

It is that time of year again when we need the trophies returned and engraved. They will be presented at the ERSA Champs at the end of September and we need them back well before then. Please return them directly to Jo Ogden or better your club Race Manager. Full details in the attached file.

If you have any problems please email either Jo Ogden or Bernard Wright.

Welwyn slope and races

As you know we have recently had to cancel the ERSA Club National at Welwyn due to some emergency changes that are required to the slope. We have been talking to the management of the centre at Gosling to find out what the prospect is for holding the ERSA Champs in September. Mike Danbury the chair of Welwyn club has also met with the management team this week and now has a very good understanding of what needs to be done.

Ski Cross Actions

Several members from the region took part in the recent Ski Cross Championships at Manchester. Tommy Dade got 1st U14, Jake Dade 3rd U12, Nick Bingham 2nd U14 and Jonathan Bingham 5th. Well done to all.

A short video attached from the event.

High standards at English Ski and Snowboard Cross Championships

Press release: 3 July 2015

High standards at English Ski and Snowboard Cross Championships

Chill Factore in Manchester witnessed some nail biting racing as the rising stars of ski and snowboard cross took to the slopes at last weekend’s English Ski and Snowboard Cross Championships.

Standards were high as over 65 athletes battled it out on the expertly built course, which challenged riders right out of the start gate.

ERSA Club National at Welwyn

Today, 2nd July, I received  notification from the CEO of Gosling Sports Park, Stephen Aucott, that they have to cancel the Club National on the 12th July. After a third party review they now have some essential maintenance work which is required on the slope which cannot be completed before the race next weekend. I have spoken to the Stephen tonight to see if there is anything we can do to ensure the race continues even with a reduced number but unfortunately it is not going to be possible.
