An opportunity has arisen to continue on some of the momentum created from the regional coaches conference earlier in the summer...
I have two highly qualified and respected Austrian coaches, Hans Jenewein and Georg Messner (see their details below), coming over to the UK, to take some training sessions at Hemel snow centre. They have offered to take a 'coach exchange of ideas session'.
As some of you know last weekend at Gloucester SSE held another regional meeting and the focus of this particular meeting was the races themselves. A copy of the minutes can be found on this page. If you have ay comments of fedback send an email to chair@ersa.co.uk.
At the weekend several racers from the region made their way over to Gloucester on the hottest weekend of year so far, for the annual SnowSport England Inter Regional event. ERSA had a strong team and in their bright t-shirts set about the
When I took over as chair of ERSA last year one of the first things I was aiming to do was start improving the communications to members. So whilst over the past few months you will have seen various emails about different things I thought I would summarise things here as a quick progress update. As always I welcome the emails, calls or just general chat about your comments and feedback.
Good luck to all those racing at Gloucester this weekend in the club national and those who are staying on for the SSE Inter Regional event on Sunday. The ERSA team this year will be;
Caroline Powell
Morgan Rota
Michael Molloy
Dan Curtis
Toby Hughes
James Grant
Gerard Flahive
Ed Drake is organising a dual slalom run race at the Hemel ski centre on Saturday 24th July in the evening from 4pm through to 10pm. This is taking place the day before the Hemel Grand Prix. Ed is continuing his push to raise money to continue his racing next season. More details are attached at the bottom of this page.
The Ipswich ERSA took place on Sunday 20th June, the first outdoor race of this season. While down a little on numbers this year as expected there was still 130 racers taking part on a very good day in Suffolk. It was also a chance to run all team events including the Rainbows. It was excellent to see so many young racers there enjoying themselves and thank you for all the support.
The Hemel indoor ERSA race took place on the 13th June. It was a record number of racers taking part with just over 190 involved in the morning. The snow held up incredibly well which meant we were also able to run the team dual slalom event afterwards and were still finished by midday. It was the largest number of racers we have had at the indoor centre since opening and the day ran very smoothly. Thanks to the organisers for all their work beforehand and during the race.
As you will have seen by now we have published an updated website for ERSA. A different layout and hopefully more information regarding other Snowsports. If you see anything that you think needs updating, changing or adding drop an email to website@ersa.co.uk. The site will continue to evolve over the coming months but the more information you can provide the better the information on here.
The first race of the ERSA summer season 2010 took place at Milton Keynes on Sunday 23rd May. It was also the first time that a regional race has been run at the slope so it was a challenge for everyone to make sure everything was in place. As expected though it was fine on the day and everything fell into place and we were able to run an excellent first race there which everyone seemed to enjoy.
The Southern region are running a Freestyle series at Bracknell, Chatham and Warmwell. If you want to register go to their main website at www.southernfreestyle.co.uk. They have got some excellent prizes this coming season.
The ERSA champs for 2009 took place at the Hemel Indoor Snow Centre last October. It was the first ERSA champs to be held indoors and a new challenge for the region.
Details about the results and some photos can be found here.
