New Chairman of British Ski and Snowboard announced

British Ski and Snowboard (BSS), the national governing body for snowsports in the UK, has today announced the appointment of its new chairman. Rory Tapner will be taking over from the current BSS Chairman, Professor John Brewer on the 15th September 2015.

Welwyn race update

There has been a new report prepared for the insurance company at Gosling centre. This is being presented to the them and it is still expected that we will be able to run the ERSA Champs at Welwyn in September. 

If there is any update we will let people know as quickly as possible.

Welwyn slope and races

As you know we have recently had to cancel the ERSA Club National at Welwyn due to some emergency changes that are required to the slope. We have been talking to the management of the centre at Gosling to find out what the prospect is for holding the ERSA Champs in September. Mike Danbury the chair of Welwyn club has also met with the management team this week and now has a very good understanding of what needs to be done.

SSE SlopeTracker report shows continued growth in domestic snowsports participation

Snowsport England’s SlopeTracker report shows continued growth in domestic snowsports participation

·       Quarter four of 2014 (October/November/December) showed 10.6% growth year on year in snowsports participation at slopes in England

·       From October 2014 – March 2015 (six month period) there was 4.4% growth year on year

Snowsport England Clubs and Facilities Conference

In less than two weeks time the country’s snow slopes, snow centres, clubs and industry partners will come together at the Snowsport England Clubs and Facilities Conference on Tuesday 2nd June 2015 at Sportpark in Loughborough.

With over 60 people attending last year’s conference, the day is one of the few opportunities for facilities and clubs to enter into discussions and share ideas around how the industry can come together to drive participation and discuss best practice and innovation.

As the winter season draws to a close, figures from Snowsport England’s GO SKI GO BOARD campaign indicates that there are still healthy numbers of people taking up skiing and snowboarding, or coming back to snowsports in England.

Guinness World Record attempt at the ERSA Schools Race

The ERSA Schools race this coming weekend will be the location of an attempt at the Guiness Worlf Racord to create the longest chain of skiers.
