Coaching Course Updates

Here is a brief email outlining some of the changes that have happened within Snowsport England (SSE) over the recent months.

As you may be aware there has been  change within the Office.

Jon Reidy and Ed Drake

Ed Drake and Jon Reidy are planning to run a three day camp at Welwyn
over the October half term.

Dates - Saturday 24th Sunday 25th and Monday 26th October.

Times 9.45 for a 10 am Start. Finishing at 4.30 each day.

Cost approx £45 per day to include training and use of facilities. (Food will need to
be brought with participants)

All ages - all standards.

Ski Focus Training


Ski Focus training opportunities: Be coached by BASI Level 4 ISTD’s and Snowsport Scotland APC’s

Alpine BASI preparation, Eurotest and Test Technique training

During November – December: 4 weeks BASI preparation, Eurotest and Test Technique training in Tignes, France.

January – April: 1 week per month of BASI preparation training courses in Tignes.

Train for any duration from 1 week to 8 weeks. Be prepared for your up and coming instructor exams.

Alpine Courses - L2 Instructors and L3 Coaches

From SSE:

Please find attached details of our Coaching courses running in Austria next spring. These courses provide routes through the UK Snowsports Coach Award Scheme towards the Level 4 coach, which is also issued with the IVSI international licence.

All instructors and coaches can benefit from these courses. Not only will you become a better coach, your club or slope will benefit: improved customer retention has been reported at ski centres where coaches use the tools learnt from these courses.

UK Snowsports Coaching Conference

Just a reminder that the closing date for aplpications to attend the UK Snowsports Coaching Conference at Manchester is the 30th August. The conference takes place on the weekend of the 17th and 18th September. Full details can be found on the website here, including the booking form.

Austrian Coaches

Message from Sally Bartlett:

An opportunity has arisen to continue on some of the momentum created from the regional coaches conference earlier in the summer...

I have two highly qualified and respected Austrian coaches, Hans Jenewein and Georg Messner (see their details below), coming over to the UK, to take some training sessions at Hemel snow centre. They have offered to take a 'coach exchange of ideas session'.
