Six Gold Medals for GB Ski racing star Robert Poth

GB Alpine Ski Racer Robert Poth age 15 has had an awesome start to the 2013 Winter Ski Race season storming to victory claiming 6 Gold medals in the 6 ski championship races he has competed in to date!

The Race season for Robert began at the end of December when he competed in the Internationaler NICI- Cup Giant Slalom and a Night Slalom event in Ellmau, Austria where he won the Under 16 age category in both events and the Giant Slalom overall.

Robert then travelled to Les Houches, France with his coaches Mark Vinter , Sally Bartlett and the Telford Alpine Race Club to compete in the Anglo-Scottish Alpine Championships and British Ski Academy Grand Prix championships from the 5th - 8th January which kick off the first alpine ski races in the GB race season calendar.

In a highly competitive age group, Robert took part in two Slalom and two Giant Slalom races over the four day championship period and comfortably won each race by impressive margins. Robert was honoured to be presented with the “Chris Guest Memorial Trophy” as the 2013 Overall Anglo – Scottish Ski Race Champion.

Next week, Robert will travel to the Czech Republic to represent Great Britain at the Ski Interkriterium International races held in Ricky and on the strength of his performance at the Anglo – Scottish Championships, Robert has also been chosen to represent GB at the “Topolino” Championships held in Italy in March which is known as the Children’s World Ski Race Championships!

Coach, Mark Vinter said,” Rob is on fire at the moment and I hope he keeps this up for the rest of the season!”

When not training and racing on snow , Robert is extremely grateful to the excellent support he receives from the Hertfordshire Talented Athlete Programme with his strength and conditioning programme from Fiona Scott and sports psychology sessions from Sion Thomas.
