Thank you to Andrew Upton from Welwyn for the following report. More to follow. A few photos can be found here.
At first I really wasn’t sure if this event was worth doing, I couldn’t have been more wrong.
How glad I now am that I posted the entry for Ben and made the trip, a superb facility, with friendly helpful staff and an excellent weekend of ski racing thanks to SSE and the volunteers on the days.
So yes another tick on Ben’s long list of to do’s.
Just a few notes to remember about SMK Races at the Sno!zone Milton Keynes
1. Parking is metered, Have plenty of coins available, There is also a Multi-Story further down the road but not open at 7am
2. Suggestion is to Park around the back of Snozone, as primary entrance for us all will be the far side door initially
3. Doors do not open until 7am, we need to get Timing Equipment into the building. Please act responsibly
4. "Approximate" Timing for the day
We are now using SMK Bibs so can sequential number all in the race. This will make it easier to follow what’s going on. Therefore the start lists have changed, we also took the opportunity to remove those that are "DNS". Link to start lists
Click here to see some photos from the ERSA Welwyn race on the 22nd May. Thanks to those that have sent some through and also thank you to Racer Ready for providing some extra photos.
Congratulations to Hope Shooter from Hemel club who has the correct Evolution leaflet with number 44 on from the weekend race at Welwyn. Hope wins a pair of Level Gloves courtesy of Team Evolutions partners.
Congratulations to Tom Coe from Norfolk, who won the overall at the 1st leg of the Southern Freestyle Series at Swadlincote on Saturday 21st May. But better than that, he received confirmation from SnowSport England today that he has been selected for the English Freestyle Development Squad for slopestyle from 2011. This was based on his rankings last year and his Silver medal at the Brits in Laax earlier in the year.
If you were taking part in the ERSA race at Welwyn on Sunday you will have seen Neil from Racer Ready there taking photos during the day.
If you didn't get chance to see the photos yesterday send an email to neil@racer-ready.co.uk stating the name and bib number you are interested in and he can forward the thumbnails.
In the meantime Neil has said that if anyone takes out a 12 issue subscription for £35 then you can also have a copy of all the photos on CD from the Welwyn ERSA on Sunday.
ERSA are pleased to announce today a partnership between ERSA and Team Evolution for 2011.
Each year ERSA continues to foster the grass roots of Alpine skiing in the region and wider afield, and has been looking at ways to promote the progression beyond the regional racing and show our members what else is available through to the National teams.
The Sport England Satisfaction Survey is available online here. This is an annual survey which Snowsport England members are asked to complete for Sport England. We need more people to feedback to Sport England as this affects the funding the sport can receive in the future, so please take a few minutes to complete the survey.
If you are not travelling north for the Stoke and Midland Club Nationals taking place a Stoke next weekend and still fancy taking part in a race then why not head down to Bromley ski centre and take part in the first LSERSA regional race. Details can be found on this page.
